LA Based Moshpit XR Studios Establishes a Premier VR Development Studio in Lahore, Pakistan

PRESS RELEASE  UPDATED: DEC 26, 2018 09:52 PST

LOS ANGELES, December 26, 2018 (Newswire.com) –  Moshpit XR Studios, a virtual reality gaming studio based in Los Angeles California, has initiated the establishment of a premier VR development studio in Lahore, Pakistan. Moshpit XR Studios CTO, Ans Shabbir resides in Lahore and is actively recruiting top VR development talent.

Ans has been a partner at Moshpit XR Studios since 2016 when the company began development of their VR music-gaming online platform “Moshpit VR”. Moshpit XR Studios COO Darryl Swann first connected with Ans to develop environments for Moshpit, but was so impressed with his work and ethic that Swann decided along with the other partners to invite Ans to join as a principle of the studio. “In the last 2 years, this partnership turned Moshpit VR from an idea into a well-curated game. Ans single-handedly did all of the development work, which has surpassed our expectations from both technical and visual standpoints. Having a team in Lahore under Ans’ lead will be a great advantage for us,” said Swann.

“Despite having an abundance of tech talent, Pakistan still does not have a AAA game studio,” said CTO, Ans Shabbir. “Only games being developed by small studios are either clones for the iPhone, or outsourced aspects of foreign games which offers foreign companies less expensive development costs. Seeing all this, establishing a AAA quality game studio in Pakistan has been a lifelong dream of mine. The last 2 years of crafting and perfecting every pixel of Moshpit VR and working with Darryl and the partners has made this a passion of mine. Establishing Moshpit XR Studios in Lahore is a dream that has manifested through passion and focused hard work.”

Swann and Shabbir have truly pushed the limits; “All of the dedicated time spent since 2016 has paid off exponentially as we have established both a solid working relationship and friendship,” said COO Swann. “It is essential both parties share a similar work ethic and philosophy,” said Swann.

The Lahore studio is actively recruiting core coders and artists, and will be aggressively building the team exponentially in 2019 for the release of the 2021 Moshpit multiplayer Music RPG & innovative Artist-Release Platform.

Moshpit XR Studios is releasing the free version of Moshpit VR this January 2019, and an immediate update in February 2019. This initial release will provide users with a playable demonstration of Moshpit’s game platform and technology while exposing them to adventure, varied environments and gameplay.

3D Audio Reaches New Dimensions in Ground Breaking Music Based VR Game

Macy Gray Producer Darryl Swann and 3D Audio Pioneer Roy Salguero Explain How

Macy Gray Producer Darryl Swann in Studio

Moshpit XR Studios, a virtual-reality gaming studio is pushing the envelope for the ultimate 3D Audio solution for their upcoming VR concert RPG & artist-release platform named “Moshpit-VR”.

Moshpit XR Studios COO, Music and Co-Creative lead Darryl Swann says, “Historically speaking, audio has been treated as sort of an afterthought as the visual aspects of media have been well served.  The irony though is that audio can exist without visuals, but visuals with no audio can be offsetting.”

Video game audio has come a long way since the simple bleeps of first generation 2D titles, but as immersive technologies continue to evolve, namely VR, once again audio is lagging a bit behind visuals as HMD optics advance rapidly.  Many companies, both large and startup are working on creating the ultimate 3D Audio solution, one that is both realistically-immersive, and intuitive to program.

Historically speaking, audio has been treated as sort of an afterthought as the visual aspects of media have been well served.

COO MOSHPIT XR STUDIOS

Swann, and 3D Audio Lead Roy Salguero recall limitations while utilizing stock dev-environment audio-engines while developing the soon to be released initial version of Moshpit-VR.  Swann, who comes from a stereophonic, record-producing and mixing background, took for granted the intuitive and clean GUI’s of well-established digital-audio-workstations, and found stock game dev-environment audio-engine-GUI’s cumbersome and less intuitive as he and Salguero initiated programming the 3D Audio for Moshpit.

Many VR developers turn to well-established, traditional game-audio plugins for added audio control, then apply various 3D Audio solutions through these plugs, but there are notable developments bubbling in the 3D Audio space.  Microsoft is developing a cutting edge 3D Audio solution that could change the immersive-audio paradigm.

Since Moshpit is a concert-based game & platform, realistic immersive audio is key for emulating ear-shattering overlapping reflections on stage, and unique audio obstructions and occlusion while backstage at concert arenas.  Moshpit XR Studios is working diligently to set a precedent for what a VR concert-game truly sounds and looks like. “The Microsoft solution is very exciting as they approach immersive audio from a new angle, and is computationally less-expensive than existing solutions.  We aim for Moshpit to be the Poster-Child for ultimate immersive audio. Also, as 3D Audio evolves, Records will begin to be mixed in 3D (not to be confused with “Surround”) , 3D Audio:  An imaginary spherical space instead of current 180-degree panoramic Stereo; just like how “Stereo” supplanted “Mono” between 1930 and 1950….mark my words, 3D Audio Records are inevitable, able to be enjoyed through any existing stereo headphones, and eventually through non-headphone ambient systems employing psycho-acoustics for X,Y,Z positionality in an open space” says Swann.

Moshpit XR Studios is releasing a free, initial version of Moshpit this Christmas 2018. This initial release will provide users a playable demonstration of Moshpit’s game platform and technology while exposing them to various environments and gameplay while the full online platform is being developed and released in 2020.

Moshpit XR Studios, a new Virtual-Reality game studio, was recently founded by Grammy Award-Winning producer Darryl Swann. Under Swann’s direction, Moshpit XR Studios first VR release, Moshpit, is set to serve as a VR music platform allowing artists, bands and DJ’s to be discovered by millions of fans.

Moshpit, a Virtual-Reality 3D-audio music-based video game, was conceived by Swann in the late 90s as the game-console market ramped up, and was in talks with many game developers including Sam Houser of Rock Star Games.

“For two decades, we’ve seen a steady decline of an antiquated music industry business-model, and I am motivated to contribute in growing the model by developing a compelling and innovative opportunity for artists to get discovered by, and connect with fans thru the Moshpit platform” said Swann. “As technology has evolved since the late 1990’s, Moshpit has turned into something much bigger than my original vision of a simple RPG music game. It’s now an action-adventure music-discovery platform wrapped up in an entertaining VR experience.”

“Utilizing Darryl’s music industry expertise and connections, with Moshpit, artists will now have a creative venue from which to present their talent to new audiences around the world.”

“Utilizing Darryl’s music industry expertise and connections, with Moshpit, artists will now have a creative venue from which to present their talent to new audiences around the world.” explained Jeff Roberts, CCO/CMO of Moshpit XR Studios. “YouTube is no longer the only alternative in town and we are excited about the opportunities this will create within both the VR and music industries for artists, fans and gamers alike.”

Swann’s experience includes writing with and producing Macy Gray, working side-by-side record producers Rick Rubin and Will-I-Am of the Black-Eyed-Peas, among many others.

Moshpit XR Studios is expected to release the Freemium form of Moshpit this Christmas 2018. This initial release will provide users a playable demonstration of Moshpit’s game platform and technology, while exposing them to various environments, gameplay and precedent-setting character counts.

New VR Gaming Studio Develops Software to Successfully Surpass 6,500 Characters in a VR Game

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Moshpit XR Studios, a new virtual reality game development company, has developed proprietary technological methods to far surpass the low-number character limit found in VR games without crashing or impeding on the scene.

The technology developed by Moshpit’s partner and CTO Ans Shabbir allows for more than 6,500 simultaneous fully articulating 3D characters in a given environment. While this technology was developed specifically for Moshpit XR Studios’ first planned VR release Moshpit, a virtual-reality, 3D-audio music video game, the future applications are limitless.

“Ultimately to be immersive and realistic, Moshpit needed large crowds as many of the environments are concerts,” said Ans. “The standard pipeline used for real-time characters would not support the character count we needed because of how much computationally expensive each character gets. I knew we had to develop something to make each character less expensive so that the most detailed and realistic crowd could be generated through thousands of individual 3D figures. We were able to do just that in a way that is seamless to players in both this initial and future releases.”

Under Ans’ programming direction, Moshpit XR Studios developed proprietary technological methods to far exceed the number of characters in a VR environment by taking a unique approach where the crowd is animated through motion capture data but there are no “bones” in the characters. “I created an entirely new pipeline through which characters’ vertices are driven by textures generated from the Mocap animation data of real actors. Hence, using vertex animation and mesh instancing inside the engine makes this crowd work in VR, even on consumer-grade hardware,” further explained Ans.

“Ans is a VR coding innovator; this is just the beginning of exciting things to come. His passion and unwillingness to accept ‘impossible’ are what made our huge VR concert crowds a reality,” said Darryl Swann, Moshpit COO and creative director. “He approached this challenge utilizing a creative combo of techniques and technologies which already existed but had never been utilized in such a way. Hence, total count far surpasses what others have been able to accomplish with VR characters.”

Moshpit XR Studios is expected to release the Freemium form of Moshpit this December. This initial release will provide users a playable demonstration of Moshpit’s game platform and technology during which a much expanded, commercial version is currently being developed.
